The interior of the Pump House is generally not open to the public, however we do host tours periodically.
You can also take a peek inside with our photographic tour here. There is still much to see at Pump House Park. Walk along the James River and Kanawha Canal and examine the remains of the locks that once served as a highway for goods moving up and down the James River. Continue along the path to the Lower Arch where George Washington met with local officials on April 12th, 1791 to examine the canal. Three informative displays throughout the park that provide little glimpses into the site's past.
